One or two more editing sessions and it's off to sound. Showed the rough cut for the first time to a friend and fellow filmmaker. I was so nervous, it hasn't been shown to anyone and I'm so deep into the project it's hard to see clearly. But he really liked it, and that made my day. His first words were "it's really really sad." I had kind of forgotten that part.

It's been 4 months since we filmed Widow. Feels like just yesterday I was climbing that scary catwalk and the crew was killing it like they always did. Fond memories will always be had of those four, long, long, long days.

But onto progress...

Temsy our (amazing) editor is back from a few weeks in China and we will continue to edit this weekend. The picture surely is coming together and it's really exciting. In between edits (which can be a few days to a few weeks) I tend to take a break from the project and not look at any footage, which is very difficult. But sometimes I need a break, visually and mentally, from the project to gain real perspective. This tactic has proven pretty successful. When I come back to the project I feel completely ready to attack. I forget the nuances after a few weeks so when I watch it again, I become an audience member in a way.

My guestimation is that we will be able to lock picture in the next month or two and then onto sound...but no promises.

Also, want to give a shout-out to our Assistant Director, Brandon who has been busy working on some cool new projects!

peace,
